Refracted Memory

An eerie feeling, an emotion unknown

A pretty hope becomes wishful dream

A bright future demoted to past regret

I thought we were in God’s perfect plan

Some scratch the surface of the plan to see

Others scratch and bleed

We scratched and a saw a sealed future

But then you cut yourself from the plan, leaving me left to bleed

The naturalization of an alien pain

An ache where joy flowed

A water beaten rock where a mountain once stood

You mailed off our future to a false place of pleasure

But these events are becoming a refracted memory of what’s currently seen

Just think where you would be if you didn’t have faith

Where would you go if you did not have hope?

What could you do if you did not feel love?

For one fall means a new chance to a greater rise

Your current midnight just hasn’t met its moon

It’s only a season of desert rain

How can you know victory if you didn’t feel defeat?

How can you see the truth if you were never blinded by a lie?

Can you feel accepted without first being rejected?

You know there’s meaning to your faith

The reflection of a undeserved peace is reflected upon your face

You’re the only light left to this circle of darkness

Will you fade out or grow brighter
