8 year old daughter coming home from school

Mom handed her the latest letter

She runs over to it and reads what daddy wrote.

Dear Angel,

Your daddy is safe. The war has just now begun. I’m told I’ll be fighting soon. Tell your mom that I love her. I hope I won’t be gone too long but until next time.

Next week there was heavy bombing and a day later a solider walk up to the house. He spoke the words that they could hardly imagine. Daddy won’t be coming back home.

The Daughter runs to her room and reaches for her paper and writes through her tear filled eyes.

Dear Daddy,

I wish I could have said goodbye. When you left this world did another angel lead you home? Where you given any wings so that you could fly back to visit me.
