Grandma’s Faceless Portrait

I’ve been spending years searching

I can’t help but wonder if you’ve been waiting too

Shortly I’ll be leaving the state for school

Am I leaving this world to arrive in yours?

I’m looking at Grandma’s faceless portrait on the wall

When you look, do you see the same portrait?

Does your wall have a space for you and I

Have we painted it with the same colors?

As we write our lives, are we missing the same chapters?

I’ve been writing the lyrics to our song, I’ll see you for the melody

Don’t worry about what my face will be like

My ears are average but my listening isn’t

My eyes are deep with the reflection of selfless love

My mouth is silent, but that’s because you took my breathe away

I may not be holding your hands, that’s because they are praising God for you

Do you see me in your dreams; do I match the description of love in your writings?

When you close your eyes, do you think about me, as much as I think about you?

Is your love wide and hopes tall, who do you see on the portrait on the wall
