Crippled Flower
Memories darken light weakens my stand
Paled leaves hang in defeat
Bruised petals, trampling feet
It seems like I’m always in midnight air
Flower with no color, rose with no thorns
Carrying my crippled flower, holding the pain
Watching others become butterflies, I still wait for wings
If I was not given a dream, how could one come true?
I’m running from the past that taught me so much
Showed me how to care and who I could trust
Finding the light, my flower grew, above all
Seeing that darkness can be light, I started by opening my eyes
I carried on, restoring my hold
Alone no longer, past failures forgiven
Eternal friend, you purify my darkened light, when I walked, you ran
You’re the tissue to my damp eyes
When I was drowning, you taught me to swim
When I needed love you, showed me sacrifice
When my heart was lonely, your word occupied
When I was forgotten, your Son remembered
I’m accepted by your rejection, comforted when you were beaten
Held up by falling grace, balanced with a holding hand
