Holy Water
There is a girl who use to shine
Everything she did would brighten life.
If you saw her now you couldn’t tell.
Her innocence was stolen along with her halo.
The memory stays with her trapped in her head.
Church turned her away saying they don’t take backsliders.
Forgotten, she turns to drinking to forget her past.
Kneeling by the motel bed she made her alter
Asking for the same drink Jesus had that brought him back to life.
As she lays there you can hear her pray.
Asking to be taken away to her heavenly father.
She takes another drink wishing it could wash her like holy water.
